How do you estimate Steam sales?

We look at how many players reviewed the game and how games like it usually sell for every review they get, then put that next to our own estimate of how many people own it. You get a range, because no outside estimate can be exact.

How accurate is it?

Close enough to compare games and plan with, not to the copy. Some games get many more reviews per sale than others, for example games with a very loyal community. The range shows how far the real number can sit from the typical one.

What does the revenue include?

An estimate of what players paid, after discounts, regional prices and refunds, and what is left once Steam takes its share. Taxes and other costs vary per studio and are not included.

Can I see my own real numbers?

Yes. Connect Steamworks on a paid plan and see your real sales and wishlists, with your rivals estimated using your own numbers.

Is it free?

Yes, no sign-up needed.
