The squint test
The smallest size players see, plain, blurred and without colour. If you can still tell what the game is, your capsule does its job.

No. Your image stays on your computer: the preview is drawn right in your browser, and nothing is sent to us.
Which sizes does Steam use?
The landscape header capsule shows up almost everywhere: search, recommendations and sale pages. The big main capsule sits on the front page, and the tall library capsule shows in players' libraries. Steam asks for each one separately in Steamworks.
What makes a capsule work?
A clear, readable game name, one strong focal point and colours that pop next to other games. Check the smallest size: if you can still tell what the game is there, you are in good shape.
Is it free?
Yes, no sign-up needed.
