Steam Scream V is on until Nov 2. Spooky games crowd the store this week, so the quieter weeks after it are worth a look.

Steam's discount rules, in short

How long do I have to wait between discounts on Steam?

30 days from the end of one discount to the start of the next. The big seasonal sales (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter) are the exception: you can join them no matter when your last discount was, and they don't start a new wait either.

Can I discount my game right after launch?

Only with a launch discount: 10% to 40% off for 7 to 14 days, starting on your release day and set up before you launch. After that, your game can't be discounted for 30 days, and that includes seasonal sales.

How deep and how long can a discount be?

From 10% to 95% off, for 1 to 14 days. Seasonal sales run as long as the sale itself.

Do festivals count as discounts?

Yes. A discount during a themed festival counts like any other, so it needs 30 days of space on both sides, unless it is a seasonal sale.

What about raising my price?

A price increase also starts a 30-day wait before your next discount, and you can't change your price while a discount is running or planned.

Is it free?

Yes, no sign-up needed. Your plan stays in your browser.
