"Steam is learning about this game": what it means
Some Steam store pages carry a small note in the features list: "Steam is learning about this game". Here is what it changes for players, what it means for developers, and which released games show it right now.
What changes while Steam is learning about a game
In Steam's own words, the game "is not currently eligible to appear in certain showcases on your Steam Profile, and does not contribute to global Achievement or game collector counts". You can still buy it, play it and unlock its achievements; they just don't add to the numbers on your profile yet.
Every game shows the note before it launches. After launch it goes away once Steam has learned enough about the game, and from then on the game counts like any other. On every released game page here you can see whether it counts toward your Steam games.
What it means if it is your game
The note does not hide your game or change how it sells, but players who collect achievements or keep their game count tidy notice it. Keep your store page complete, keep players happy and the note takes care of itself as your game finds its audience.
